This sculpture is a representation of an elderly Neapolitan fisherman, who stopped to enjoy a quiet break smoking his pipe.
The figure is modeled in a very realistic and detailed way, so as to perfectly capture the thoughtful and serene expression of the fisherman.
The work was probably made of resin and metal alloy, with golden reflections, and rests on a slab of black marble which gives the entire composition an imposing scenographic presence. Despite the heaviness of the sculpture, the delicate balance of its elements makes the whole appear very harmonious and balanced.
The age of the work is unknown, but this does not detract from its great charm
The sculpture has some small restorations, including a finger of the hand and the tail of the fish, which were taken into consideration for the price but this does not affect its beauty.
The sculpture is very beautiful and has a great scenographic effect.
It is a work that certainly captures attention and arouses interest.
